It
must be the right length.
An easy way to measure for an Emergency Ladder is to drop a string out
the window until it touches the ground. Mark the string at the window
sill. Pull the string inside and measure it. The X-IT Ladder comes in 2
story (13' long), 3 story (23'), 4 story (33'), 5 story (43') and 6
Story (53') escape ladders. Longer ladders available upon request. Your
X-IT Ladder should get you to within 2' of the ground for safe escape.
It
must fit the window sill.
Not all window sills are alike. Measure the distance from
the inside of the window sill to the outside face of the
structure. This dimension is the window/wall thickness. Most
emergency ladders are designed for window/wall thicknesses
from 10” to 12”. The X-IT Emergency Ladder is
designed for ALL window/wall thicknesses
including those more and less than 10” to 12”.
The X-IT Emergency Ladder steel grapple hook secures to the
wall structure beneath the window sill trim and is not
limited by the window/wall thickness.
-
It
must be approved. ASTM
Standard F2175 is
the only standard for Emergency Ladders. UL
does not have emergency ladder Standards.
UL participates in the ASTM Standard for Emergency Ladders.
The X-IT Emergency Fire Escape Ladder exceeds the ASTM
standard; one way is by testing the ladder to #1,000 lbs applied in
the middle of any one step.
It
must perform. Is it safe? Is it strong? Is it compact?
Is it lightweight? Is it easy to use? Can it be deployed
quickly? Any Emergency Ladder is only as good as it
performs. Fox News did an independent test that showed the
X-IT Emergency Fire Escape Ladder was the safest, most
compact, lightest, most stable, easiest to use and deployed
the quickest. We invite you to compare this yourself. Please
ask your Fire Department to help. If you are a Fire
Professional we will lend you a ladder for comparison
purposes.
-
It must be re-usable. The
X-IT Ladder is re-usable. We encourage Safe practice with the ladder.
Please read the instructions, deploy the ladder, then climb up a few
steps from the ground. This is a safe practice and minimizes potential
risk. Before deploying the ladder, study how the ladder is packed: this
helps with re-packing the X-IT Ladder.
-
It
must be a good value. Is it a good design with quality
materials? Will it last? The X-IT Emergency
Ladder is better by Patented design and quality materials
which enable it to perform best. Firemen will tell you this
makes a difference. to
